The practice-led research ‘The Influence Of Seams On Body/Dress Balance,’ in progress since 2016 (FCT/CIAUD), is included in the line of research Drawing the Body & Inhabiting the Drawing. Having an interdisciplinary approach using insights and methods of Pattern Design, Ergonomics and Neurodesign, the project aims to understand and rationalize (1) the ideal positioning of (conventional and alternative) structural seams, (2) considering their influence on body/dress balance. For that reason, clothing patterns are being developed and then prototyped to collect visual and verbal data from subjects willing to participate in the study.
