'Design de Moldes 2D/Flat Pattern Design,’ a book being developed for fashion students and designers, is included in the line of research Demystifying Pattern Design. Although being the first Portuguese book covering the design of women’s clothing patterns comprehensively, the text is also written in English to cater for the foreign students studying in Portugal under the Erasmus Program. Based on a logic that aims simplifying the process and following the ‘inside’ approach characteristic of women’s clothing construction, each basic pattern included is created one after the other (e.g., the pants from the skirt; the jacket from the bodice, the two-piece sleeve from the one-piece sleeve, etc.) and their development into specific garment styles are presented in cause and effect sequences.
